On Thursday the 8th of April we boarded a Delta flight for Athens, Greece
to spend Easter on the island of Kea. Normally when we travel to Greece we fly
to Athens and spend a couple days there, going out, staying up late and general
wreaking havoc on our internal clocks. This time we landed in Athens after a
very uncomfortable trip then went right to the port of Lavrion where we had a nice
lunch in the seafood taverna that overlooks the yacht harbor. An hour later
we were on the ferry to Kea and a short time after that we were looking at the mountains
of the island, green with grass from the winter rains.
The weather could not have been more perfect and to find ourselves in the
village which was preparing for the big Easter weekend seemed really strange
after having been involved in our lives in America not half a day earlier. At
the same time it seemed normal in a way and to the people who greeted us on
the street we may as well have just been in Athens for the few months since
we had last been on the island.
This is the story of my Easter
in Kea in pictures and words. Click on the first photo to begin.
