Matt Barrett's Sifnos Trip

It's not a tour. It's a trip to Sifnos, Santorini and Athens with me as your host, there to advise you and help you have an interesting, inspiring and fun trip to Greece. This trip is not for everyone. If you are looking for a guided tour this is not it. But if you want to go to some of my favorite places in Greece with someone who knows his way around then this could be the journey for you. I am there to coach and give suggestions so you can do what you want to do in what I hope will be a group of very interesting people.

The beautiful Cycladic island of Sifnos will be seen at the most perfect time, before the arrival of the summer crowds. Fantastic beaches, excellent restaurants, traditional cycladic villages and 365 Churches and monasteries make the island the perfect destination for people who want to see the real Greece without the embellishments. The island has an excellent bus system and cars and motorbikes are available for rental. It is famous for its cuisine, its excellent beaches, traditional pottery and the hospitality of the locals. We can take day trips around the island to places like the beautiful bay and beach at Vathi, the 3000 year old city of Kastro and Chrisopigi, the symbol of the island. Or else we can just relax on the beach in Kamares, swimming, snorkling or making friends in the waterfront cafes.

In Santorini we will be staying in the quiet village of Oia, on the rim of the enormous volcano that makes up the bay. We will visit the ancient sites of Akrotiri and ancient Thira, plus the beaches of Kamari and Perissa with their famous black sand.

In Athens we will be staying near the Plaka, the Acropolis, the National Gardens and Syntagma square where all the important sites, shopping and eating establishments are within walking distance. We will go to some of my favorite restaurants and with Dolphin Hellas providing the transportation to and from ferries, hotels and the airport this should be the easiest most enjoyable vacation ever.
