In August of 1963 we lived in the Hotel Hermes in Hermoupolis, Syros at the beginning of our first year in Greece. I was about 9 years old and I remember it being perhaps the best time of my life. My father, Nicholas Econopouly, was in Greece as a visiting Fulbright professor with several other educators from the USA and the hotel was full of kids. We would wander around the town which had few if any cars, or swim at the rocky beach behind the hotel. These photos
are from the slides my father took then and on a return visit in 1968. If you want to see more photos of Greece from the sixties just click the link after the last picture to go to the site I made of my father's slides.
