Platy Yialos

Platy Yialos is said to be one of the longest beaches of the Cyclades and it is
an excellent place for spending the day swimming in the water, playing beach games on the sand and making friends,
which is easy, with all the sporty people who water-ski, wind-surf and do all kinds of other fun stuff on the fine
golden sandy beach. There are many seaside tavernas and cafes here, a couple of pubs and a couple of mini-markets.
One of the most famous Italian restaurants on the Cyclades is "Mama Mia" where you will find home made
Italian food (most of the pasta is hand made, right there in the kitchen). The restaurant is owned by Philippo
who has an amazing collection of 45's and plays some of the best music on the island. If you love the 60's you
can just hang out there all night and all day too because it is right on the beach. The places to go for local
cuisine, on the waterfront, are "Sofia and "Steki". In the evenings, just before the sun sets, when
all the beach people are gone, you will really enjoy a magical evening with twilight colors over the sea, a feeling
of peace and tranquility prevalent in Platy Yialos at that hour. "Kalimera" is a place to go to for a
nouvelle cuisine dinner, a light bite or just coffee and desert. Kalimera plays just the right music, at the right
volume, at the right time, and it's right on the beach.
