In 2007, STUDIO YRIA was
celebrating thirty years in ceramic
production. Located on the Greek Island
Paros, in the heart of the Cyclades
islands neighboring Myconos and Santorini.
The island is easily accessible by
ferryboat, yacht and
airplane. |
|
The work produced at the studio is
primarily functional earthenware and
includes hand painted plates , bowls,
platters, and table top accessories using
indigenous motifs as design elements. The
two most successful designs being the
octopus and olive motif. |

We have also developed a series of hand
pressed glazed and terra cotta tiles used
in island architecture. These tiles are
usually incorporated into floors as
accents with Parian marble and
slate. |
|
The series for which we have gained most
recognition is the Byzantine line. The
technique used in creating these pieces is
an etched method which dates back to early
Christianity. The glazes are rich with
freely brushed copper and cobalt oxides
using historical Byzantine motifs as the
design elements. |
