Piazza Dellapizza

Tourists visiting Kea, especially those with children, who make the trek through the town of Ioulida to see the famous lion will notice a small square with a big chess set. This is the famous Piazza Dellapizza, a creation of the artist known as DEL. Besides the chess set, there are two ancient caverns built into the wall. One contains the information center for the network of paths around the island and the other is the workshop-gallery of DEL. The cafe En Lefko hastables that overlook the Piazza Dellapizza so it is a good place to stop on your way to or from the Lion. When travel agent George Gerassimides came to Kea and saw the Piazza Dellapizza and some of the other works of Del's around the town he said "The city government should pay this man whatever he wants and let him do anything he wants so he will never leave this island because he is the most important person on the island."
